RESOLVING CONFLICT WITHOUT GOING TO COURT

Mediation

How Mediation Works

Mediation is a voluntary process in which a neutral mediator helps parties communicate, explore options, and reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Unlike court, where a judge decides the outcome, mediation puts the power in your hands. The mediator does not take sides or make decisions but guides the discussion to help everyone find common ground.

Mediation can be tailored to your needs—whether you are represented by an attorney or representing yourself—and can address one issue or multiple complex matters. The goal is to resolve disputes efficiently, reduce stress, and save time and money.

Common Areas Where Mediation Can Help

Family Law

  • Divorce and separation agreements

  • Child custody and parenting plans

  • Child and spousal support

  • Division of property

Civil & Business Disputes

  • Contract disagreements

  • Employment issues

  • Landlord/tenant disputes

Other Conflicts

  • Estate or probate matters

  • Mediation for personal or community conflicts

  • Motor vehicle accidents

  • Insurance issues

  • Personal Injury matters

Mediation provides a structured environment for parties to discuss sensitive issues openly, explore solutions, and reach agreements that work for everyone involved.

Benefits of Mediation

  • Control: You and the other parties decide the outcome.

  • Confidential: Discussions and proposals remain private.

  • Efficient: Resolve disputes faster than through litigation.

  • Cost-Effective: Avoid the high costs of court proceedings.

  • Less Stressful: A collaborative process designed to reduce conflict and protect relationships where possible.

Reaching an Agreement

Once an agreement is reached, it is documented in a Mediated Settlement Agreement (MSA). This agreement can then be submitted to the court and used to prepare a final order for the judge’s approval. In many cases, court appearances are minimal or not required.

Mediation helps you move forward with clarity, confidence, and resolution—without the expense, delays, and unpredictability of litigation.
